As part of the “An der Schmëtt” PAP, planned and implemented by LSC360, a key aspect was the renaturation of the Syre River. A large existing weir was removed and replaced by a “stepped fish pass ramp.” Complex hydraulic calculations were performed for this ramp to ensure fish migration. During the simulations, it was crucial to predict future water levels to prevent dry zones and to avoid causing new flooding in other areas.

Construction 2016-2023
Key features
• Renaturation of the Syre over a stretch of approximately 500 m within a future residential neighborhood, including partial removal of an impassable weir about 1.70 m high and creation of a rough ramp
• Hydraulic modeling for a 2D hundred-year flood
• Characteristic flows: MNQ, MQ, HQ10, HQ100, HQext
• Integration of a pedestrian bridge
• Filling of a pond
• Re-meandering
