Micheville Link – OA666

The OA666 bridge on the new section extending the A4 motorway in Luxembourg towards France highlights the relevance of composite steel–concrete solutions for modern infrastructure projects.

The deck is extremely slender: the central spans extend over 50 m with a constant structural depth of 1.35 m. The geometry is complex, as the road axis follows a clothoidal alignment with a minimum radius of 640 m in the horizontal plane and crosses an existing roadway with a variable skew angle.

The construction site is surrounded by existing local roads and a lake. The steel structure (total weight 1,300 tonnes, total length 126 m) is entirely made of thermomechanically rolled S460 steel, with material thicknesses of up to 100 mm.
