Located along the Clerve River, the new European secondary school offers outdoor facilities designed according to uses and needs.
Smooth circulation is ensured across the entire site through the creation of direct pathways accessible to people with reduced mobility.
A large forecourt marks the entrance and highlights the importance of the new establishment.
A multisports field of approximately 20 x 31.5 m for football, basketball and volleyball is located in the inner courtyard of the school. Concrete benches with wooden seating define the field on one side.
Sealed surfaces are reduced to a minimum in favor of lawns on lava soil, allowing maximum use of the space as a schoolyard within a green setting. These surfaces also allow the infiltration of rainwater and floodwater on the site.
Open retention basins complement the stormwater management system. This water is directed towards the renaturalized Clerve via open ditches. A wooden boardwalk with numerous seating areas creates a relaxation space along the Clerve. This contact with the river creates a calming atmosphere.
The differentiated management of the site, with its more extensive areas, forms a green ensemble conducive to gathering as well as relaxation for students and teachers. All facilities, with their multifunctional uses, form a coherent whole and create a genuine link between the buildings and their surroundings.
