Following an accidental pollution of watercourses, the Water Management Administration (AGE) wanted to assess the ecological impact of these pollutions on the receiving water bodies. These studies are conducted under the framework of the amended law of April 20, 2009, concerning liability for the prevention and remediation of environmental damage, the amended law of December 19, 2008, relating to water, and the law of June 28, 1976, regulating fishing. There is an obligation to restore the initial state as well as to repair ecological losses caused by these pollutions. The polluters, under the technical supervision of AGE, commissioned us for this assessment.

Etude 2022
Key features
Collaboration with the polluter and the water management authority
Critical review of the relevance of analyses and consideration of pressures other than pollution
Morphological, ecological, and qualitative constraints of the existing watercourses
Our missions
Estimation of ecological losses and proposal of remediation measures, based on biological assessment of watercourses
Analysis of three biological groups: fish, benthic macroinvertebrates, and diatoms
Implementation of sampling protocols: IPR for fish, I2M2 for macroinvertebrates, IPS for diatoms
Recommendations on relevant indices and selection of monitoring points according to site constraints
Literature review and utilization of existing and ongoing data
Preparation of an assessment report with proposed remediation measures
