Redevelopment of the CR118/CR121 Junction – Reconstruction of OA355 and OA359

The junction is located at the intersection of CR118 and CR121 in Breidweiler, an area with heavy traffic causing slowdowns and accident risks. Replacing the stop-controlled junction with a roundabout aims to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents.

The roundabout allows for better traffic distribution, avoiding sudden stops and priority conflicts. At the same time, the reconstruction of two aging bridges is necessary to ensure user safety. The bridges will be built using reinforced concrete for strength and durability, and clad with local natural stone to blend harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.

The roundabout is designed to simplify vehicle movements while ensuring continuous flow. Its size and the number of entry lanes are determined by traffic studies to meet current and future needs, with curvature radii suitable for heavy vehicles, trucks, and buses. The two bridges comply with modern standards, guaranteeing safety and structural stability, while enhancing local heritage through the use of Ernzen sandstone.

This project improves traffic safety and flow while respecting the environment and highlighting local heritage.
