Underpass PK9.384

This project involved the reconstruction of the underpass at kilometer 9.384 (Mamer) on the Luxembourg–Kleinbettingen railway line. The existing masonry arch, dating from 1861, had a clear span of 4.80 m and a clearance height of 5.30 m, allowing the passage of C.R.102 road connecting Dippach to Mamer. Due to its advanced deterioration, it was demolished and replaced by a new structure.

The new underpass, fully compliant with Technical Interoperability Specifications (STI), allows the road to pass beneath the railway line with a clear span of approximately 12 m and a projected clearance height of about 7 m. The deck consists of steel beams encased in concrete. It was constructed above the road lanes and installed by transverse launching using hydraulic jacks, allowing vertical and horizontal movement. Temporary interruptions of road and rail traffic were required to minimize disruption for users.
