Stroossen 2030 – Skatepark

Since 2018, the municipality of Strassen has been collaborating with LSC360 on the “Stroossen 2030” project, which aims to transform the centre of Strassen into an attractive, green and sustainable public space, incorporating a modern school and sports campus.

As part of this project, the current football pitch, located below the municipal administration building, will be redeveloped to accommodate a new school with a Maison Relais, which can accommodate up to 450 pupils. This pitch will be replaced by two new football pitches with stands, currently under construction. Once these new pitches are ready for use, construction work on the school can begin, with a planned launch date of September 2025.

Also in the planning stages is the redevelopment of the municipal square, with the aim of creating a lively space featuring small shops, cafés and other meeting places, developed in consultation with citizens.

Other projects include the extension of the municipal building and the construction of a third sports hall, currently being developed in collaboration with the municipality.

LSC360 is acting as Project Manager for the implementation of the “Stroossen 2030” Masterplan, while the Spatial Planning division is contributing its expertise in urban planning, sanitation, mobility and sustainability. Currently, a modern concrete skatepark is nearing completion, planned for the immediate vicinity of the future youth centre, next to an existing beach volleyball court. The facility covers approximately 2,350 m² of stabilised surface area (by way of comparison, the Pétrusse skatepark has a surface area of 3,400 m²), is freely accessible and perfectly integrated into the overall site. The skatepark has benches for skaters and spectators, is equipped with water fountains and has lighting for evening use.

The concrete work for the flat surfaces, in particular for the conical and double conical bowls, is highly technical and had to be largely smoothed by hand. A perimeter footpath connects the site to other sports facilities and the school campus. An access road has also been built, facilitating access to the youth centre.

LSC360 has successfully supported this project from the outset. The Project Management department coordinated the planning team, supported the approval processes and was responsible for the tendering and awarding of construction services. Spatial Planning assisted the municipality during the design phase with the choice of site, the planning of the drainage system and all phases of planning for roads, networks and outdoor facilities, including construction management.

With the skatepark and associated projects, Strassen is becoming not only an attractive place to live, but also a centre for sport and community, which will improve the quality of life of its residents in the long term.
