The purpose of this construction is to facilitate pedestrian access between the village below and the sports field above.
The project consists of a 38 m high reinforced concrete elevator tower and a 38.4 m long steel truss footbridge with a steel-concrete composite deck. On the Holleschbierg side, the bridge rests on an integrated abutment, leading to a path formed by reinforced concrete retaining walls topped with cantilevered concrete slabs. On the opposite side, it is supported by brackets that are part of the tower containing the elevator. Stairs and landings are cantilevered around the elevator core.
To ensure the stability of the complete structure, the foundation is embedded several meters into the ground and rests on a thick footing anchored in the rock. The unique façade consists of triangular panels with varying geometry and light transmission, attached via a fine metal mesh to the steel columns and stair landings.
