Prior to the conservation, restoration and extension works of Schengen Castle, we carried out the interior and exterior survey of the castle buildings and its park.
The first step consisted of creating precise documentation of the existing situation of the site in the form of interior and exterior scanning and digitization.
We used a combination of different surveying tools:
• GPS for connection to national coordinates (data georeferencing)
• Total station for establishing the control network and positioning the targets required for the georeferencing of the scanning and the 3D point clouds
• Scanner for data acquisition (point clouds and photographs)
This surveying method enabled us to obtain colorized point clouds and photographs allowing the point clouds to be colorized.
The post-processing of the raw field data using specialized software then enabled the generation of precise control networks and the 3D visualization of the digital model.
